Ubuntu 12.10 “Quantal Quetzal” disponible para descargar

Para todos los usuarios de Ubuntu les informamos que Canonical ha lanzado la versión final y estable de Ubuntu 12.10 de nombre clave “Quantal Quetzal”, la edición número 17° del sistema operativo Ubuntu que hiciera su debut años atrás y se convirtiera rápidamente en una de las distribuciones Linux más populares y usadas. 

Esta nueva edición como era de esperarse estará potenciada por el Kernel Linux 3.5 con el entorno de escritorio GNOME 3.6 que viene con una mejorada interfaz Unity. Esta nueva versión brinda mejoras de rendimiento, actualizaciones de aplicaciones y nuevas características respecto a la entrega anterior. Ubuntu 12.10 tendrá soporte por 2 años, hasta abril de 2014. 
Como es tradición Ubuntu 12.10 viene en varias ediciones para escritorio y servidores como: Ubuntu Desktop, Ubuntu Server, Ubuntu Cloud Server, Ubuntu ARM, Ubuntu Netboot, Ubuntu Core, Ubuntu Studio, Edubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Lubuntu, y Mythbuntu. 

Algunas novedades de esta edición, es que será la primera que se ofrezca únicamente en DVD, el soporte en CD ha sido eliminado, también es la primera edición en soportar nativamente Web Apps, además de las actualizaciones de aplicaciones como Firefox y LibreOffice, entre otras… ah y nuevos fondos de pantalla.

· DVD only release – this is the first time when Ubuntu Desktop image comes only on DVD, as the CD images were dropped. The Ubuntu Server remains on CD though; 
· No Alternate version – the Ubuntu Desktop Alternate edition was also dropped from this release – only the Desktop version remains; 
· Enhanced desktop experience powered by Unity – now with Previews, Amazon search, new Lens and Scopes, suggestions, Web Apps integration, cleaner panel, as well as numerous fixes and refinements; 
· LVM and full disk encryption support – implemented right in the installer; 
· Web Apps – this is also the first release of Ubuntu to integrate native support for web applications; 
· Up-to-date office suite – LibreOffice has been updated to version 3.6.1; 
· Up-to-date web browser and email client – powered by Mozilla’s Firefox and Thunderbird 16.0.1 products; 
· 11 new beautiful wallpapers - from various photographers and artists around the world; 
· Improved login screen – now with support for remote logins too; …and many more other small features for you to discover!
